EP 260: Culturally Diverse Community and their Experiences with Addiction
Rai, Raul and Viv Sober_I_Thrive As we discuss “getting sober” in a Multi Cultural Diverse Community and how breaking our limiting beliefs within our cultural barriers of Addiction ❤️🩹 Recovery, could have stopped us from getting sober.
The making of “Sobersquad” as told by Raulito, who is one of the founding fathers and the Terrible 😢 Anxiety that plagued Rai to join the one and only Zoom at the time and why it took me so long to integrate myself on Zoom and my own personal cultural biases.
If you FEAR joining zooms this podcast is for YOU, we shared with so much vulnerability in hopes to reach out to those of you that feel alone, scared 😱 and FEAR WHAT OTHERS
Rai was born in Guam where both her parents were heavy drinkers, then moving stateside, she confesses that she has felt alone most of her life, but through sobriety she has grown into herself, finding her voice within her sober found family, She now strives to be as open and present as possible so that others may not feel as alone as she once did and is breaking the generational cycle of alcoholism within her own family with her son, Currently at age thirty she has 20 months of sobriety and hopes one day to become a published author.
My name is Raul aka Lil Raulito and I’m humbled by my strides in recovery. I didn’t think I would ever be able to break away from my addiction yet here I sit a couple of weeks from hitting the 1000 day mark. The reason I remain connected with our tribe is to give back what was freely given to me. I want to be a representative of my Higher Power and share my message of strength and hope. I can’t do this alone and I stay connected with the fellowship to stay sober. Sometimes the fellowship lifts me up and at other times I’m part of helping others. I’m blessed to have found community and I’m grateful to be part of this community.
