About Sobertown
Sobertown is a growing community of like-minded people in recovery helping others start or maintain their sobriety.
We refer to ourselves as “Sober Warriors” because the fight against addiction is a grisly battle that takes no prisoners. Real people die every day from complications and repercussions of long-term alcohol use, a tragic end that is 100% preventable through increased awareness and connection.
Alcohol is so pervasive and normalized in our culture that it often gets a free pass into our lives when it’s really a cancer-causing drug that can slowly wreak havoc on all states of our well-being: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, vocational, and intellectual.
But we’re not here simply to shine a light on alcohol’s ugly side.
We’re forming a village of sober individuals from all walks of life that share a common goal - to support others in recovery while also increasing the dialogue around the many positive aspects of sobriety versus the darkness of addiction.

Friday Nov 19, 2021

Sober Baddies - Cultivating Contentment with Lisa Chapin
Guest hosts Sara Malloy and Elaine Skylar Neal talk with Lisa Chapin, a Licensed Addiction & Professional Counselor, about chasing happiness and cultivating contentment in everyday life.
Sometimes happiness can feel like a far-off and unattainable place, and we can fall into a trap of thinking, "I'll be happy when THIS ONE THING occurs." Except when we get this one thing, it doesn't make us any happier. Why is this?
Lisa Chapin breaks this down for us, taking us back to the roots of where these notions come from, and how living in a constant state of happiness isn't an ideal we should be striving for.
About Lisa Chapin:
Lisa Chapin is a Licensed Addiction & Professional Counselor (LAC, LPC) who completed her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Colorado at Denver. She is a contributing editor to Marriage.com and a provider for the Give An Hour organization which services the military and veteran community. Her professional experience includes military intelligence, corporate business management, and organizational change and coaching. Lisa enjoys working in a variety of areas with specialties in addictions and trauma.
Her approach is down to earth and direct, yet compassionate and caring. All of her treatment approaches are personalized and based on sound scientific models of human behavior and established methods of psychotherapy.
Lisa was born and raised in North Dakota and now lives in Colorado with her partner where they enjoy spending time with their children, granddaughter, and two active, mischievous dogs. She enjoys running, hiking, and spending time in the mountains.

EP 141: Acacia Moon’s Recovery Story
Friday Oct 22, 2021
Friday Oct 22, 2021
Acacia Moon Congratulations on your 5 year Soberversary.
King13 interviews Acacia Moon as Acacia shares her amazing story!
One of six children, her Mother left when she was 6 years old, a mostly absent Father, and raised by her Grandparents she starts drinking at 14, physical and sexually assaulted through her teenage years, being in controlled relationships and made to feel worthless. Constantly placing herself in dangerous situations, with angels protecting her, Acacia meets her husband of today. Still drinking they battle through trust issues, and she talks about the day she decided this behaviour had to stop. This is truly a biography of neglect, wanting attention, abuse, hope and hard work and how you can change and live a beautiful sober life.
Acacia Moon! Thank you sooooo much for having the courage to share your story with us here at Sobertown Podcast! You are an amazing Lady and you've had one hell of a journey through life! Many Congratulations on 5 Years Sober!!
