About Sobertown
Sobertown is a growing community of like-minded people in recovery helping others start or maintain their sobriety.
We refer to ourselves as “Sober Warriors” because the fight against addiction is a grisly battle that takes no prisoners. Real people die every day from complications and repercussions of long-term alcohol use, a tragic end that is 100% preventable through increased awareness and connection.
Alcohol is so pervasive and normalized in our culture that it often gets a free pass into our lives when it’s really a cancer-causing drug that can slowly wreak havoc on all states of our well-being: physical, emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, vocational, and intellectual.
But we’re not here simply to shine a light on alcohol’s ugly side.
We’re forming a village of sober individuals from all walks of life that share a common goal - to support others in recovery while also increasing the dialogue around the many positive aspects of sobriety versus the darkness of addiction.

Positive Recovery with Corinna Suicide Prevention For many of us suicidal thoughts occur at sometime in our lives. Do we really want to be dead or do we just want to escape how we are feeling in that moment. Most suicidal thoughts come from a place of loneliness and hopelessness. This really is a time when we need to play it forwards. When we need to plan ahead and not stay in the moment. It is important to talk and equally important for others to listen. In this podcast I talk about safety plans, reaching out, hope boxes and apps to help you stay alive and support people who are worried or concerned about someone ending their life. If you are actively suicidal and cannot keep yourself safe then please call the emergency services. Apps mentioned in this podcast are:Stay Alive (UK)HopeboxNotOk (for teens)I Am Sober You can also contact the Samaritans on 116 123 in the UK or search for your countries Suicide support line on the internet. Sober Baddies - Cultivating Contentment with Lisa Chapin
Guest hosts Sara Malloy and Elaine Skylar Neal talk with Lisa Chapin, a Licensed Addiction & Professional Counselor, about chasing happiness and cultivating contentment in everyday life.
Sometimes happiness can feel like a far-off and unattainable place, and we can fall into a trap of thinking, "I'll be happy when THIS ONE THING occurs." Except when we get this one thing, it doesn't make us any happier. Why is this?
Lisa Chapin breaks this down for us, taking us back to the roots of where these notions come from, and how living in a constant state of happiness isn't an ideal we should be striving for.
About Lisa Chapin:
Lisa Chapin is a Licensed Addiction & Professional Counselor (LAC, LPC) who completed her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Colorado at Denver. She is a contributing editor to Marriage.com and a provider for the Give An Hour organization which services the military and veteran community. Her professional experience includes military intelligence, corporate business management, and organizational change and coaching. Lisa enjoys working in a variety of areas with specialties in addictions and trauma.
Her approach is down to earth and direct, yet compassionate and caring. All of her treatment approaches are personalized and based on sound scientific models of human behavior and established methods of psychotherapy.
Lisa was born and raised in North Dakota and now lives in Colorado with her partner where they enjoy spending time with their children, granddaughter, and two active, mischievous dogs. She enjoys running, hiking, and spending time in the mountains.
